The College hosted a seminar on collaborative working last
Thursday. We had some very interesting guests from a variety of
organisations.
Our experts talked about the great opportunities for
collaboration given advances in technology. We also presented five
key principles for successful collaboration: getting
management on board; having a clear objective; creating and
following an agreed roadmap; creating the right user experience;
and guiding users before, during and after roll-out.
The College team presenters were Guy Lane and Desiree Collier,
Partners, and Fia Virtala, User Experience Lead Adviser.
Our technical partner, David Gardiner, of UniTech, showed how
Sharepoint 2010 can be used to meet clients' objectives. One good
example of this is a project for British Transport Police.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Miller, Head of Special Branch,
Covert Policing & Force Intelligence Bureau gave us a
fascinating insight into the collaborative tools he is using for
his national team.
Our sailing photograph shows collaboration and technology
working as it should - to achieve a common goal!
